Year Two: sustaining a healthy lifestyle

A year ago I shared my commitment and success in losing weight over 2014.  By the end of that year, I was back within the weight range considered “normal” for a man of my height and age.  But when I was committing to this in 2014, I was well aware that losing the weight is just phase 1.  An overwhelming majority of those who lose weight will slowly put it back on.  I knew that the success I sought would include at least a phase 2: focus on building a long-term lifestyle that sustains the health level and weight range that I worked hard to reach.

My Sidelined Week of 2015

Four weeks ago I had a bicycle crash that was obviously more severe than I had realized.  A week later I experienced my first head tingling and dizzy spell, but it was not until this past weekend that the symptoms became problematic.  After a 90-mile bike ride Saturday, symptoms grew noticeably worse and persistent so that on Sunday evening I went to urgent care, had an MRI that revealed blood had filled my cranium, was placed in intensive care, and on Monday morning had neurosurgery for a subdural hematoma.  Here is the full story...

Starting Anew

My first "blog" (Randy's Journal) ran from 1997 - 2002.

If you are astute on web history, you'll realize that '97 was well before blogging tools were invented and a couple of years before the term "blog" was coined.  Back then, to have one's own website was to be a pioneer.  Each of us was exploring what a website could be and what impact it could have.  There was no right answer.  We were inventing.
